 ABOUT US

How It All Started

I discovered the world of U.S. immigration law in 1998 after graduating from law school, while waiting for the bar results and to be sworn in as a new lawyer. Through the PAIR Project in Boston I volunteered to take my first case, a pro bono asylum case for an Ethiopian client fleeing political persecution. I put my heart and soul into the case and spent countless hours meeting with my client and other witnesses, researching country conditions, gathering supporting material, and preparing my client for their asylum interview. I loved every minute of it. I still remember the immense satisfaction I felt when the approval notice arrived in the mail. My client was safe and would not have to return to the dangers they fled, and I knew that I had found a home in immigration law.

Following this first successful case I took on more pro bono asylum cases and then joined the staff of Catholic Charities’ Immigration Legal Services department in Boston. My caseload there included family-based immigration cases as well as asylum and removal/deportation cases for clients from around the world. Being one of the few French-speaking staff members, I finally was able to put my years of French studies to good use representing clients from Haiti, the DRC, Rwanda, Cameroon, and other Francophone countries.

In 2003 I opened my own office, and today our firm's clients include artists, innovators, investors, business professionals and families. Although the focus of my practice has evolved, each case is still built around the same personal connection, creative strategizing, and attention to detail that guided that very first asylum case. Our approach is always centered on you, our clients, and our aim is to focus on your goals, your background and objectives to better understand your situation and your needs and provide properly tailored assistance and advice for you at all stages of your immigration process.

Our Goal Is Excellence

Some of the highlights of my immigration law career that I am most proud of include being selected by my colleagues to serve as a mentor to my fellow immigration attorneys through the AILA Mentor Program. AILA is the leading national association of more than 15,000 attorneys and law professors who practice and teach immigration law. Mentors are chosen based on their experience and insight into U.S. immigration law.

I also collaborated with the Maison des Français de l’Etranger (MFE), a department within the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs that assisted French citizens with their expatriation plans, for over a decade until that department closed.  During that time I provided regular consultations at the ministry on U.S. immigration matters and, along with representatives from the U.S. embassy in Paris, participated in several conferences organized by the ministry on how to apply for visas at the embassy.
