Description:

The I visa allows you to come to the U.S. to work temporarily if you are employed by a foreign media company, such as a foreign newspaper, radio, or television company. You also may apply for an I visa if you will be working for the U.S. branch office or subsidiary of a foreign media company. If, however, you are going to work for a U.S. media company, such as the New York Times or CNN, you can not apply for an I visa but may be eligible for other visas, such as an H visa or a L visa. To get an I visa, you need to be employed by a foreign media company. With I status, you are allowed to remain in the U.S. for the duration of your employment with the foreign media company; there is no maximum duration.
